Joel Denver is the President and Publisher of the All Access Music Group, a company he co-founded with his wife, Ria, in 1995.
When Fred Jacobs first created the Classic Rock format and introduced it to radio in 1985 he correctly identified a new and to this day enduring path to success for radio to follow. The Classic Rock format galvanized and united a passionate group of Rock music radio listeners and fans – and it became an instant ratings/revenue success — and today it remains a printing press for money.
Classic Rock taps into the shared experiences of these fans, many of them men, who had gone to numerous concerts, purchased lots of Rock music and t-shirts over the years. They partied, played air guitar and shared a lifestyle that was at one point clearly defined and influenced by Rock music and their favorite Rock bands of the 60s, 70s and 80s.
As they aged, a large cross-section of these men are now married with families. They are financially upwardly mobile and represent 25-44 and now older fans who just never got tired of the ‘rock on dude’ lifestyle, even if was just in their heads, whether they are heading to work in their BMWs or are Joe Lunchbox heading to the construction site. Classic Rock remains a straight path to capturing the hearts, minds and wallets of many 25+ male radio listeners.
